Senior Business Development Manager

T-MARC Company Limited is an independent, Tanzanian-led and controlled organisation dedicated to improving the health status of Tanzanian families. T-MARC employs a dynamic approach, bringing together public and private stakeholders in order to develop and expand consumer markets for a broad range of health products and promote behaviour change that will improve public health. These products and campaigns contribute to a demonstrable health impact in the areas of HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, child survival, infectious diseases and malaria and are specifically targeted at vulnerable, at-risk and low-income audiences.

BROAD FUNCTION
The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for developing business opportunities for the Company and forging and developing relations with Government ministries, private sector companies and other NGOs with similar interest as T-MARC, especially those working in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Reproductive Health, Child Survival and infectious diseases in Tanzania.
The Senior Business Development Manager reports to the Managing Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To develop and nurture relations with the private sector, NGOs, Government of Tanzania, and other organizations that can help T-MARC continue to achieve its mission of developing and implementing innovative, cost effective and evidence based marketing and communication solutions that address key health, social and economic challenges in Tanzania.

Academic and/or Professional Qualifications
Skills

• Ability to work independently, determine priorities and manage a variety of activities while collaborating with a broad coalition of health partners.
• Experience working with donor funded programmes.
• Demonstrated understanding of USAID programmes and operations.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and organizational skills.
• Good computer and internet usage skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Swahili.
• Good editing skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Experience in goal setting, team building and the management of change in the public and private sector.
• Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to thrive in a team of dynamic marketing and communications professionals.
A postgraduate degree in a business related field, Maternal/Child Health, Public Health, Health Communication, or Social Science.

Experience
Demonstrated experience in donor business development, proposal writing and organizational sales.

• Not less than five years of private sector experience in marketing, sales, communications or advertising of health products or services in Tanzania.
• At least 3 years experience in business planning and development, monitoring and report preparation is an added advantage

 
• Work with the technical director and management to diversify the Company’s revenue sources by attracting funding from a variety of developing partners and funding agencies, and by developing a range of commercial services and products.
• Prepare feasibility studies and write proposals; recommending and establishing program objectives, priorities and schedules in conjunction with technical department to diversify company’s revenue sources.
• Work with the technical director and management to continuously look for and respond to the upcoming tender opportunities. Take a leading role in developing technical and financial responses to requests for project proposals and contract acquisitions.
• Work closely with the Technical Director in identifying private sector companies and institutions for T-MARC to partner with in order for companies to leverage their resources more effectively for public health initiatives and to address issues of coverage and consistency related to the distribution of dependable products.
• Work closely with the T-MARC Technical Programs Director to identify NGOs, CBOs and FBOs in similar programmatic areas for T-MARC to collaborate with in the areas of interpersonal and community based communication interventions with the aim to disseminate accurate information leading to behaviour change.
• Work with technical departments to partnering with NGOs and pursue different forms of private sector partnerships between the public and private sectors to create viable new markets for products and services.
• Develop short concept briefs, leaflets and updates on Company’s interventions and activities to distribute and share with partners, funders and general public.
• Work with the technical director and management to develop consultancy services in areas of monitoring, evaluation and research, social marketing and behaviour change communication design and implementation.
• Perform other functions as directed by the Managing Director.
