PATH, a nonprofit international health organization committed to improving health worldwide, is collaborating with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program, National AIDS Control Program, and the Association of Private Health Facilities of Tanzania to support a coordinated public- and private-sector response to tuberculosis and HIV with support and funding through USAID and the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
The District Coordinator will work under the direction of the PATH Regional Tuberculosis Specialist and Tuberculosis/HIV Project Director. This person will work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health District Tuberculosis and Leprosy Coordinators, District HIV/AIDS Control Coordinators, and Council Health Management Team. The position will be based in the Mwanga district in Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. The District Coordinator will provide technical assistance to outpatient departments of hospitals, tuberculosis clinics, and HIV clinics for the implementation of joint tuberculosis-HIV program activities in the district. Specific responsibilities include:

- Establish baseline data on tuberculosis and HIV activities in the district.
- Develop and coordinate an effective referral system of tuberculosis and HIV patients to appropriate services for HIV counseling, screening, care, and treatment within the district or region.
- Conduct supervisory visits to tuberculosis and HIV diagnostic and care facilities, provide on-the-job training for providers, prepare reports on supervisory visits, and provide feedback on achievements and constraints to the Zonal Tuberculosis/HIV Coordinator and the facilities visited.
- Prepare regular quarterly tuberculosis/HIV reports and present findings during relevant meetings.
- Participate in quarterly district meetings.
Required Skills
- Expertise in tuberculosis diagnosis and knowledge of treatment and/or counseling.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili.
Required Experience
Clinical officer with a diploma in clinical medicine or assistant medical officer with advanced diploma in medicine plus a minimum of three years of experience in public health and/or tuberculosis control or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
